All right, so you have been to Cebu many times and have come to enjoy it. These days, however, it is really sad to see that it is no longer easy to go around and spend more time visiting the many scenic places on the island.

Between quarantine restrictions, curfews and the rules between different cities, you might be wondering what exactly you can do now?

Fortunately, taking pictures is still an option and it may well be the perfect activity for quick driving trips in and out of the city. All you need is a good phone camera and a nice rental to take you around. Each shot only takes a few minutes, but the result is a permanent memory that you can always look back on.

Here are some handy tips to get you started.

1. Pick great subjects.

Having a clear subject is a good starting point when taking pictures, even when doing it on a quick getaway trip. That keeps you from going all over the place with a camera and taking too many random shots.

For example, maybe for one trip you could focus on architecture. Consider driving by places like the historical Basilica de Sto Nino. If you happen to be heading out of town, then you could also check out the Simala Shrine in Sibonga.

Alternatively, if you are just in the city, you can try some food photography by taking pictures of the many local delicacies (whether it is lechon, ngohiong, rosquillos or some other tasty treat that is unique to Cebu).

2. Get a good rental.

These days, quality car rentals can be more than just a fast way to get a personal ride around Cebu. The way they are regularly sanitized and disinfected makes them ideal for cleaner transportation.

But more than that, good rental services also offer the latest models that are just simply great to drive in regardless of environment. You can even feature them if you want your scenic photographs to have a sense of luxury and style.

They don’t have to be expensive either! Some services in Cebu are currently putting up a lot of new models at bargain rental prices. If you want to just head out for a week of relaxation and photoshoots, then a nice rental to take you around really tops it off!

3. Don’t be shy on social media.

There is nothing wrong with just saving your pictures on your phone. But if you feel proud of your awesome shots, then don’t hesitate to strut your stuff on social media!

This not only lets you showcase your photography skills to friends but also lets you tell your story about your current travel experiences. Everyone is aware of all the tourism restrictions happening, but a few good shots can really lift a lot of spirits and tell people that plenty of Cebu’s sights are still beautiful even when fewer folks are allowed to see them.

And on the side, it is still good exposure for many of these destinations (and the people who work there). You never know if a few months from now, the pictures you took may have inspired others to prepare their own trips there once restrictions are more relaxed!

Overall, it just goes to show how well travel and photography go hand-in-hand. Taking pictures can be quick enough for time constraints but still enjoyable as you forever preserve all your moments on the road.
